German
English
Berlin ist größer als München.
Berlin is bigger than Munich.
München ist nicht so groß wie Berlin.
Munich is not as big as Berlin.
Je mehr ich lerne, desto besser verstehe ich.
The more I learn, the better I understand.
Memory trick: je...desto always uses TWO verb-final clauses stuck together in a funny order — je (subordinate, verb at the end) + desto (main clause, verb second, right after desto).
⚠ Common mistake: Don't use 'wie' after a comparative — "größer wie" is a very common but incorrect regionalism; standard German requires "größer als".
